Paul Vaughn

Doctor Paul Vaughn grew up in the greater Birmingham area. He graduated from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. While at AUCVM, Dr. Vaughn received multiple awards from the school including the Surgical Proficiency award. He went on to pursue a rotating internship at Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine the following year. After his rotating internship, he completed a surgical internship in Hollywood, Florida with Dr. Jon Dee, an expert in the field of canine carpi and tarsal surgery. After completing his surgical internship, Dr. Vaughn returned to Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine for his surgical residency. Dr. Vaughn excelled while in his surgical residency. He was the recipient of multiple research grants. Ultimately, he received an international award for the resident research paper of the year from the Veterinary Journal of Comparative Orthopaedics and Traumatology. Dr. Vaughn has 9 years of veterinary specific training including 5 years of postgraduate training in surgery. In addition to his veterinary education, Dr. Vaughn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Toxicology from UAB. Dr. Vaughn returned to Birmingham to practice at Veterinary Surgery of Birmingham in 2016. Veterinary Surgery of Birmingham became Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham in 2019. In 2021, Dr. Vaughn was awarded the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Young Achiever Award.

Dr. Vaughn loves spending time with his family when not working. He lives in Birmingham with his wife, twin sons, and dog. His dog, Finn, is a hiking, camping, canoeing, and jogging partner for the family. Dr. Vaughn aspires to help his patients return to doing all the activities they love doing with their families.
